Anime Boston Report
May 5, 2005

Recovering period from Anime Boston is pretty much over and I'm still in awe over a lot of what happened. Meeting up with the people I do makes the whole trip worthwhile. I'll post a longer con report later, but just a few shoutouts - to Mookie, who played the role of "generous host" and "all-around good guy," not to mention, "totally bitching dude with a kick ass comic." Not enough good things can be said about Mookie. Also quick shout out to Hawk and Ananth who I really got to know better over the course of the trip.

So, apologies for not letting anyone know I was going to Anime Boston - I wasn't going to promote the comic, I was just sort of going - still, it amazed me how many people recognized me and took the time to talk to me and listen to my crazy theories about storytelling. I definitely went off on a few rants about the nature of story structure and character development. Sorry about that.

In convention news - looks like I'll be going to "PortCon Maine" located in, you guessed it, Portland, Maine. That would be the weekend of June 24-26. I'll have shirts with me and probably some other stuff too - just planning it out now, so I'll let you guys more as time passes.

... For the record, the song that plays in issue 100 in the Prologue is "Final Credits" from the Apollo 13 soundtrack.

... so stop e-mailing me about it.

... I mean it this time. Film thoughts.
May 6, 2005

Having not seen a lot of movies lately (at least mainstream ones) so I'm going to take a ride to the local theater and see if I can catch up on one of the films these kids today are talking about. It's down to "The Interpreter," "Hitchhiker's Guide," or "Kung Fu Hustle." I'm leaning towards Steven Cho only because it looks like it'll be leaving theaters soon and god forbid I miss a second of the crazy random antics that this movie promises.

(Google Ads are dictated by what I say, so I figured I'd talk about movies a lot more so I can get rid of the ads that want to sell you embroidered aprons. Also, I don't thhink I'm allowed to talk about my Google Ads, so shhhh.)

The Showcase Cinemas in East Hartford has been showing a lot of Indian films lately. Which is nice and refreshing from the repetitivity of recent American films (another super hero movie?). So if my tastes get the better of me, I may see an Indian thriller called "Kaal." Apparently it's aout battling supernatural animals!

Wacky Chinese Antics.... or Bollywood Dance Sequences.... this will require some thought.
